Bubble Tea’s origin story
Bubble tea’s history is a rich, long-standing blend of different Asian cultures. As far back as thousands of years ago, an ancient tea preparation was developed, whose recipe additionally consisted of milk and sugar. Since around the 18th century, the drink has also become a tradition for many Europeans. Years later, experiments were made with different types of tea, e.g. black, green, rose, etc., by adding ice, which led to the creation of the famous ice-tea, which also became very popular in the future both as a separate drink but also as bubble tea. However, the phenomenon of Bubble tea turned out to be the additives, i.e. the balls in the drink.
Green tea
There are many legends associated with tea and it is difficult to pinpoint a single place and time for the discovery of an infusion from this plant. However, what we do know for sure is that the first references to it date back to the 10th century BC and it was probably consumed in China as early as the 23rd century BC, the plant being native to Southeast Asia.
Legends relating to the first consumption of this brew date back to the 5th century BC in China. One of them points to Emperor Shen Nung as the person who first tasted the brew - according to the legend, camellia leaves fell into the boiling water and so the emperor discovered the drink, which is refreshing and pleasant in taste. Information about the tea-drinking culture covers different corners of the world. In each of them, ways of preparing and consuming this beverage that are typical of the place and climate have been invented, each with its own tastes or customs.
To this day, we can still see how different they are, and local combinations of flavours can be surprising and not obvious. Green tea has a lot of medicinal properties. It is rich in vitamins B, C, E, K, calcium, zinc, potassium and iron. In addition, it has a positive effect on the overall health and functioning of the body.
Black tea
Over the centuries, many legends have been written to describe people’s discovery of this drink. The most popular one tells of Emperor Shen Nung, who always boiled the water before consuming it for hygienic reasons. On one occasion, a few leaves from a nearby bush fell into the boiling water, which, to the emperor’s surprise, discoloured the water and gave it an interesting aroma and taste. The ruler was so delighted with his accidental discovery that he soon spread tea throughout the country. The black tea was discovered completely by accident, when the entire cargo became flooded during transport and began to ferment. The harvest did not want to be thrown away, so the leaves were dried and brewed as usual. An infusion of black tea has many nutritional properties, as well as fats and protein. Above and beyond this, it has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects and has an anticacer effect. It has a stimulating effect and an effective influence on concentration.
